A Prayer of Remembrance
Reflections of the Heart:
This is the 18th day of the Omer. “We praise You, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us by Jesus Christ, our eternal Redeemer and Savior, and commanded us to count the Omer. By faith, we wait with joyful hearts to celebrate the sending of Your Holy Spirit.”
Heavenly Father, we thank You for being the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We thank You for being our God. Thank You for the opportunity to stop and reflect on all that You have done for us, our families, our Church Family, our community and our nation (begin to thank the Lord for how He has blessed Your life). Father, we proclaim Your greatness and we will let the whole world know what You have done. We sing praises to You and tell everyone about Your wonderful deeds. We remember the wonders You have performed, Your miracles and the rulings You have given. Lord, You are our God (Creator), Savior (Jesus) and Sustainer (Holy Spirit). The entire universe was formed at Your command and what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.
Most Awesome Father, You instituted the Passover. We declare that if You had only saved the firstborn of Israel by having them put the blood of a lamb on their doorposts while they were in bondage in Egypt, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to become our Passover Lamb so that by His blood, we could be delivered from the bondages of sin and death, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just sent Your Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, and empower us to fulfill our Kingdom building on earth, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just blessed our Church Family with the 6000 Heatherbrook location, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just blessed us to revitalize an economically declining neighborhood through The Power Center and Social Services Center, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just provided those who thought that they could never possess land with an opportunity for homeownership through the Corinthian Pointe Residential Subdivision, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just blessed us to provide social, economic and educational opportunities through Phase I of The Kingdom Builders’ Center, dayenu, it would have been enough!
Loving Father, if You had just blessed this community with excellence in education through the Imani School, the Jean Hines Caldwell Elementary School, Neighborhood Centers, and Victory Preparatory Academy dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just cared not only about our minds, and souls, but our bodies, as well, through the YMCA, dayenu, it would have been enough! Lord, if You had just blessed us to make affordable and first-rate health care available for children who historically have been underserved through the Texas Children’s Pediatrics Associates, ABC Dental, Speech Therapy and TSO Eye Clinic, dayenu, it would have been enough. If You had just blessed us to reinvigorate and re-energize a sagging community with businesses like CVS, Walgreens, McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Advance Auto Parts through the Corinthian Pointe Commercial Park, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just blessed us to serve our senior adults with beautiful living conditions at the Corinthian Village Independent Living Facility, dayenu, it would have been enough! If You had just cultivated and promoted missions and outreach programs within our neighborhood, our city and especially the Kingdom Builders’ Children’s Center Kenya, dayenu, it would have been enough! We decree and declare that You are the God of more than enough. Lord, as a Church Family, we will always remember Your faithfulness and everlasting love. All honor and glory to You forever and forever!
Holy Spirit, help us to look back over our lives and remember God’s faithfulness toward us. Help us to focus on how blessed we are instead of what we do not have. Remind us of the excitement and passion we felt when we first accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. As a congregation, help us to always be mindful of the amazing things God is doing through our Church Family. Holy Spirit, help us to remember every personal victory we have had in God and every trial we have overcome. Remind us to tell our youth and children of God’s wonderful works and everlasting kindness.
For the next few minutes, think about what God has done in your personal life. As you look back over your life, remember and give thanks to God:
Merciful Father, forgive us for not remembering Your goodness on a daily basis. Forgive us for allowing our current cares and concerns to overshadow the victories You continue to perform in our lives. Forgive us for not telling our youth and children about Your great love and miraculous deeds. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)
Gracious Father, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.
Blessed King, there is no god like You in all of heaven and earth. You keep Your covenant and show unfailing love to all who walk before You in wholehearted devotion. Lord, You are good; Your faithful love endures forever! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Today, I will trust God to
