A Prayer for the Economy in the Greater Houston Area

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 105:1-10, Isaiah 61:4-7

Reflections of the Heart:

Although, it has been predicted that the Greater Houston Area economy is gloomy, as Kingdom Ambassadors, we confess that instead of shame and dishonor, we will enjoy a double share of honor.  We will possess a double portion of prosperity in our land, and everlasting joy will be ours.  Isaiah 61:7

Scriptural Prayer:

Gracious Father, we thank You for being faithful to the Greater Houston Area throughout our history.  Thank You for blessing us to prosper and to grow from generation to generation.  Thank You for keeping our city through our economic hardships and financial conflicts.  You have been merciful, Lord.  This whole earth, everything in it, and the people who inhabit it belong to You, O God.  It is You who supplies us with abundance.  It is You who sustains us in times of lack. Your instructions are perfect, they revive our souls. Your commandments are clear and right. They give us insight for living. We, Your children, delight in them and love to meditate on them day and night.  We are grateful that You are willing to bear the heavy economic burdens of our city so that we are free to worship You and receive rest.   Dear Father, it is You who strengthens our city and holds us up with Your victorious right hand!

Holy Father, we stand in the authority of Jesus’ Name, rebuking the principalities and powers that are inciting economic destruction in the Greater Houston Area oil and gas industry and related services that contributes to our economy.  We command the economic infrastructure to stabilize and align to Your will, Lord.  We command peace to be still in the Greater Houston economy.  By faith, we call forth increase of profit within the oil and gas industry and all related services.  We decree that the lower oil and natural gas prices will not have a detrimental effect on the Houston economy and we command all energy related job losses to cease.  Lord, we declare that You will raise up people within our city’s economic and oil and gas leadership who have a supernatural anointing like Joseph’s to receive, interpret, and administrate visions that will save companies, restore jobs, and open new opportunities in stagnant sectors of our economic markets.  We destroy the works of the spirits of greed, fear, and uncertainty.  In Jesus’ Name, we command prosperity to come back from the north, south, east, and west into the economy of the Greater Houston Area.

Glorious Father, we ask You to protect our economy and oil and gas industry and all related services.  Deal with the hearts of the global oil industry concerning unethical practices.  We pray that Your generous outpouring of wisdom, discernment, and divine understanding will be gladly received by our city’s economic and oil and gas leadership. Show them how to decrease their deficits while continuing to provide employment for their employees.  Holy Spirit, we ask You to strategically assign men and women who are fully equipped to reveal creative ideas and effective methods to our current economic crisis.  Help the citizens of the Greater Houston Area to reconnect to the Living God as our source and supply, and remove any thoughts of doubt, fear, or dismay.

Loving Father, we repent on behalf of the Greater Houston Area for our many sins. Forgive us for greed, pride, arrogance, selfishness, and oppression of the poor.  Forgive our CEOs for overcompensating themselves and placing their employees and companies in jeopardy in order to maintain their lavish lifestyles and greedy appetites.  Merciful Father, please forgive our city for being selfish, reckless, and irresponsible with the blessings You intended to be handed down to the generations following us.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind the citizens of the Greater Houston Area of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help the citizens of the Greater Houston Area not to yield to temptation; but deliver us all from the evil one.

Omnipotent God, how great are Your riches and wisdom and knowledge! You are the God who does great things too marvelous to understand. It is You who performs countless miracles. We praise You, Lord! Let everyone on earth bless Your holy Name forever and ever!  Everything comes from You and exists by Your power and is intended for Your glory. All glory to You forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
